#074 - How to Build your Ark or "Effective Decision Making"

by Corey
(Mechanicsville, VA)

Great topic! The Bible does give us guidance on making decisions for every area in our lives. As you said, it isn't always specific to our particular circumstances. A general "rule of thumb" is to pray for wisdom. Wisdom is such a powerful attribute that we can gain by studying, listening, experiencing life, and, at times, by supernatural gifting from God. Proverbs is full of prayers for wisdom. Paul & James both encourage Christians to seek wisdom from God. Wisdom plays out in our daily lives by applying God's revealed Word & by seeking advice from our spiritual authorities and/or mentors. I have experienced that, in many cases, my spouse has just the word of wisdom that I need to make a decision. God has sovereignly provided these resources in our lives just for that purpose. Granted, God can & does give us words of knowledge & discernment from time to time. However, in my experience, we usually have to rely on His revealed Word for guidance on our day-to-day lives. Let's not only love the Lord our God with our hearts & souls, but with our minds.
