How To
Build Your Ark

“But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD.  These are the generations of Noah: Noah was a just man and perfect in his generations, and Noah walked with God. ”  Gen. 6:8-9

We have said God has an Ark for you to build.  He has a plan and a purpose for your life.  The next question is:  How do you build your Ark?  Is there an Ark Building For Dummies book?

Learn how to build your Ark and discover the will of God for your life.

We sometimes think of the will of God as some mysterious unknowable thing.  But God did not intended that it would be hard for us, in fact, He did give us an Ark Building For Dummies book - and He said the wise would not understand it!

The Bible tells us what God’s will is.  As we study and live by it’s instructions we are living the will of God.  You will notice that Noah was a just and mature [perfect] man who walked with God.  God had a vital mission for him, but if he had been off living it up in the world, doing his own thing, he would not have been in the right place spiritually for God to speak to him and direct him.

So the first step, in discovering what Ark God has for us to build and how to build it, is studying and applying the Word of God.  We must discover Who God is and how He wants us to live.  We must order our lives in line with the Word of God.  Until we start ordering our lives according to the revealed Word of God, we will not be in a position for God to lead us to the next step.  I know studying and applying the Word of God is a life-long project, but as we are involved in that project with all our hearts we are available for God to lead us in specific ways.

Knowing God’s will is an important step to judging what we think is God’s voice.  We know that God will never direct us to do something that violates His Word.  An extreme example is the person who goes out and kills someone and then says God told him to do it.  He may have heard a voice, but certainly wasn’t God’s voice for God’s will is very plain:  You shall not murder.  The same principle can be applied in hundreds and thousands of major and minor cases.  If we know God’s Word, we will know what God wants in specific situations.

Now, I know what you are thinking:  “That’s fine, but that doesn’t give me specific direction when I need to know what God’s Ark for me is or who I am to marry, or if I should go into business or...”

Knowing the written word of God does narrow the field.  For example, we know it is not God’s will for a Christian to marry a non-Christian; therefore, a Christian who wants to marry a non-Christian doesn’t have to wonder what the will of God is in that specific case.

In other cases, it is not so obvious.  Having a heart to follow God and sincerely putting His will above our own will is vitally important.  God very seldom speaks with an audible voice, but He will direct us by putting ideas in our minds.  He also gives us peace in our hearts regardless of the circumstances when we are moving in His direction.  Circumstances can be a guide [God opening or closing doors]; however, we have to be very careful that we are not manipulating or reading into circumstances what we want to see.  It is very easy to do that and our heart can be very deceptive.

How do we discover our Ark project?  Often it is simply by living our daily lives in love with Jesus and according to His Word.  If we do that we will not go far wrong.  We don’t need to be anxious over it.  God has His timing.  Be at peace and walk with God.  You will hear His voice in the right time and you will be prepared for how to build your Ark.
