The War Of God

The war of God is world-wide and all-consuming. This is not some limited “police” action. God is at war and He is totally committed to winning. He spent about 4,000 years building and preparing for the decisive battle [as we study in Covenants]. For those 4,000 years the majority of the world, except for a small remnant, was in darkness fighting on the enemy’s side. The war of God has looked like a hopeless cause for the majority of human history.

But God is holding nothing back in this war. He would not be pushed into a premature action. He worked and waited until the time was perfect. In the decisive battle He sent His Son to be tortured to death, yet that very act was what turned the tide in the war of God on this vicious enemy. There is no price that is too high to pay in order for God to achieve total victory.

Common Sense Promo

"So also, when we were children, we were in slavery under the basic principles of the world. But when the time had fully come, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under law, to redeem those under law, that we might receive the full rights of sons." Gal. 4:3-5

At the Cross the decisive victory was won. The ultimate outcome is now assured. The kingdom of God, which came at the death and resurrection of Christ, will continue to grow and manifest itself in the earth. His kingdom will come, His will shall be done in earth as it is in heaven just as Jesus prayed it would be.

"And he said unto them, When ye pray, say, Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth." Luke 11:2, KJV

The war of God is not a power struggle. God has all power. Satan and his forces would not stand a chance if God decided to wipe them all out. The problem with that is that we, through Adam, joined Satan in his war against God. Being perfectly just, if God were to destroy Satan and his forces by brute force, then He would have to destroy us as well. That is not a price He is willing to pay. Instead the war of God is fought on legal grounds. Adam legally gave authority to Satan over this world. Jesus Christ legally regained that authority on behalf on mankind - but only for those who voluntarily accept Him as their legal authority otherwise they remain under the authority of Satan and will ultimately share Satan's fate in hell.

Decisive Battle Won

For the last 2,000 years God has been waging a world-wide war. No longer is the fight limited to a remnant in preparation for the decisive battle. The decisive battle has been won. Now, on the basis of Christ’s victory, God establishes and expands His kingdom in the earth.

And again, there is no price too high for God to pay in order to achieve His goal. Martyrs down through the centuries, including about 150,000 a year in our own era, testify to the seriousness of the war. The enemy is defeated, but not yet vanquished.

Our enemy knows the war of God against him is real. God knows the war is real. Often Christians are the only ones ignorant that a war is being waged. We dare not lose our vision or get distracted. Our goal, as we follow the orders of our Commander, is nothing less that the world-wide manifestation of the Kingdom of God. Why is that every other religion can have such sweeping goals - which require sacrifice - but Christians think if they have such glorious goals they are being prejudice and intolerant? Christians are the ones with the Truth. They are the ones who are going to win. Where is our confidence? Where is our commitment to winning this war?

How is this war of God fought? Both Satan and God fight this war through their representatives on earth, i.e. human beings. Satan plays dirty. He uses violence, deception, intimidation, force, and whatever else he can think of. God is wiser. He has designed the universe so that light is greater than darkness and love is greater than hate. Christians wage war by living righteous lives in the midst of an evil society. They work from love even when they are hated. They are helpers not hurters. They don’t use violence, but they are unwilling to compromise in the face of violence. They, like their God, will pay any price to see the kingdom of God manifested on the earth. Where they are given political authority, they will use it to establish Godly laws and punish genuine evil doers.

The final victory will not come until the Second Coming of Jesus. However, we can see great gains of the kingdom of God on earth. In fact, Jesus will not be returning until the Holy Spirit, working through His people, has manifested His kingdom throughout the world. False “end-time” teaching has really hurt the church - at least in North America - from achieving God’s goal.

As an extra bonus, we have God’s personal guarantee that every sacrifice we make now and everything we suffer for the Kingdom of God [under God’s direction not our self will] will be overwhelming rewarded in heaven. If we take realistic view: what is 70 - 100 years compared to forever? The time of our life on earth doesn’t even make a dot on the timeline of eternity, yet what we do with these few years will impact forever. The war of God will be won completely!
