PAUSE this video and read Chapter Two of your textbook: Do Not Be Afraid!  Be sure to pray the prayers in the chapter.

What did you think of the author’s statement that Jesus doesn’t ask for permission to invade our lives?  Have you heard - or even said - that “God is a Gentleman” in this type of context?  I know I have.

Yet when you look at it Scripturally, he has a very good point.  Scripture says that no one seeks after God.  If He had not stepped unwanted into our lives at some point, no one would ever be saved!  We may not have had as dramatic encounters with Jesus as Rabbi Schneider or Paul, but at some point and by some method, He changed the direction of our lives.  And now we are so grateful that He did!

Read 1 Cor. 9:16-17.  Paul does not speak as if he had a choice but to preach the Gospel.  He could do it voluntarily and earn a reward or involuntarily and not get a reward.

In combating fear, it is essential to realize that success does not depend on our ability to handle it.  Success comes from God's faithfulness.  Fear wants to make us think we have to be in control—when we know we are not. Faith learns to relax in the knowledge that Jesus is in control.  It is hard, in the heat of battle with fear, to recognize.  In fact, our emotions are screaming the exact opposite.  Faith grabs hold of what we know in our hearts is truth, and it doesn’t let go when our emotions are kicking and screaming.  Saturate your mind with Scripture on the faithfulness of God.  Look at stories [in Scriptures and in Christian biographies] which demonstrate the faithfulness of God to others.  God does not change.  Since He did it for others, He will do it for you.

Let us analyze Is. 41:10.  I trust you have taken the prerequisite course, Feed Yourself, so you know what I am talking about.

Is fear of man one of the fears you are facing?  While this can be fear of sharing the Gospel because of possible rejection or ridicule, fear of man can also mean living in fear that your spouse will leave you, that your boss will fire you, or that others may hurt you in other ways.  Take some time to meditate on Is. 41:10

Assignment

1. Memorize Is. 41:9-10.

2. Analyze Psalm Chapter 91 that you memorized last lesson.  Review Feed Yourself Lesson 18.  You do not have to do a Book Survey, and you will probably not get it all on one sheet of paper.
