Below are just some ideas on what to look for in a Christian school.
1. What are the doctrines of the church [if a church-school] or what are the doctrines of the owners/leaders [if not a church-school]?
Will they be teaching your child doctrines that you believe and can support at home? Will you be able to submit to the school's authority?
2. What are staff attitudes and characteristics like?
No staff member is perfect, but look for general attitudes. Do they feel positive about the school? Do they support their leadership? Do they love the students? Is it a ministry for them or just a job?

3. Does the school have a spiritual emphasis?
Are students required to memorize Bible passages? Are they involved in church or Christian activities? What are the chapel and devotion times like? Are God and Christian principles incorporated into all the subjects?
4. How do the students feel about the school?
Do they like it or resent it? Are their attitudes good? Is the school helping them grow in their faith in God?
5. Does the school use an individualized curriculum?
Does the school focus on the group or on the individual? Some students learn well in a group setting, while others are hindered by it and need the individualized curriculum that some Christian educational producers provide. Only you can decide which is best for your child[ren], but it needs to be considered as you examine the school.
6. Are the classroom and school grounds neat?
Are the students and staff required to wear a modest uniform or dress neatly? The outward is often a sign of the inward. A school that will not tolerate sloppiness in appearance is unlikely to accept poor work habits or bad attitudes.
7. Does the school receive government funding?
There are quality Christian schools which take government funding and quality Christian schools which do not. Government-funded schools may be less expensive and offer more attractive "options"; however, they are also at serious risk of having to compromise Christian values to retain their funding. [see Education By Theft]
8. Are they offering a top-quality education?
Are their educational standards high? Can graduates go directly to colleges and universities?
9. Do they believe and teach a literal six 24-hour day creation, or have they compromised with evolution by inserting "millions of years" into Scripture?
Look at the textbooks, what do they say? [A good site on creation with up-to-date scientific evidence is Creation.com.]
